Accessing your space

Residential spaces are kept secure through TigerOne Mobile ID and key access. To ensure your space stays secure, be sure you are keeping track of your key and do not allow others to use your ID to gain access to a space.

Key/Lockouts

Visit the area desk if you are locked out of your room or lose/damage your key. There is a $100 charge for each lost or unreturned key.

You will be issued a temporary key if you are locked out. If this key is not returned to the Area Desk by the due date emailed, you will be charged $100 for a lock change.

Emergencies, Safety, & Security

At times, you may hear sirens with voice messages. These sirens alert people who are outside to potential dangers like lightning, severe weather & other threats.

Clemson’s emergency alert system notifies you when there are emergencies or safety concerns on campus. Be sure to sign up to receive alerts and review information on other safety resources at the link below.

The free Rave Guardian mobile app is available to help keep you safe on campus. With direct connections to campus safety, family, friends, and others you trust, you can feel safe anytime, knowing your Guardians are watching out for you.

Trash & Recycling

Residents are responsible for the removal of trash from their rooms, suites, or apartments. All trash and recycling should be placed in the large dumpsters and/or recycling containers that are located outside in each community.

A FEW TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS:

  • Don’t turn your air conditioning/heating unit all the way up or all the way down.
  • If you use detergent pods, please make sure you place the pod in the washer itself – not in the slot on the side.
  • Calls about the elevator should be directed to the Clemson University Police Department (CUPD) at 864-656-2222.

We appreciate your patience and for understanding that buildings may seem hot on Move-In Weekend. All doors are open making it difficult to regulate the air flow. It may take 48 to 72 hours for the building to regain its normal temperature.

During this time:

  • Don’t open the windows.
  • Close your door to keep the cool air in.
  • Don’t adjust your thermostat below 72/74 degrees.
  • If the room doesn’t have a thermostat, place the fan coil cooling on medium and fan speed on medium or low.
  • If you have an air conditioner or gas pack don’t turn the thermostat all the way down. This will make the unit freeze up, and it will have to defrost before it starts cooling again.
  • A fan will help until the building recovers from all doors being open.

Setting Up Your Space

Lofting Your Bed

Students are responsible for lofting their own beds. However, lofting the provided ADA compliant modular beds is a simple process requiring two people. Just follow the steps below.

  1. Remove the mattress
  2. Lift all four corners of the spring frame out of the headboard and footboard
  3. Raise the frame to the desired height (11 different options)
  4. Hook the frame on the brackets on each leg
  5. Make sure it’s secure
  6. Replace the mattress
  7. Enjoy the extra space!

What is a Modular Bed Frame?

The bed frames provided are modular, which will allow you to raise or lower your bed to various heights without a loft kit. Raising the height of your bed creates more floor space, which allow more room for things like futons and TV’s.

Can I Use Other Lofts/Risers?

Raised platform floors, bed risers, personally constructed lofts, or other physical space alterations are not allowed in any University-owned housing.

TV & Internet Access

All students have internet access across campus through Eduroam internet. For TVs, gaming consoles, and streaming devices, you have access to ResMediaNet. Once you’ve got your internet set up, you’ll be able to access Stream2 Internet TV and TigerFlix. Just follow the directions on our Residential Technology page!

Missing Items

All spaces are checked by Clemson Home staff prior to move-in, but if you find that you are missing anything, please submit a maintenance request.

If you are in an apartment area, be aware that showers are not furnished with shower curtains. If you require a curtain liner, you may request one from your residential community staff.

Remember, all furniture must stay in the room. Requests to have items removed will not be accommodated. Each loftable bed comes with a bed rail. Please leave it attached to the bed or store it in the room.
