ME Pi Day
The ME Pi Day competition provides ME grad students with a casual setting to practice public speaking and present their research to non-technical audiences. While Pi Day is officially March 14th, this event has been set for April 3rd as to avoid conflicts with Spring Break. The rules of engagement are as follows:
Use only ONE PowerPoint slide! No slide transitions, animations, or any form of movement can be used in the slide
No audio or video files on your slide!
You cannot bring props, costumes, musical instruments, or laboratory equipment…No poems, raps, or songs! (Judges may choose to wear costumes)
Speeches must not exceed a maximum duration of 3 minutes 8 seconds; participants who go beyond this limit will face disqualification. A visible timer will be provided, and you will receive a signal when 15 seconds are left.
Any written letter should be at least 18 in font size.
Notes are not allowed during presentation!
The judging staff will consist of Mechanical Engineering department faculty members. Prizes are as follows:
First Place: $50 gift card from ME Department
Second Place: ME Tumbler/Mug & ME Hoodie
Third Place: ME notebook
