Genetics and Biochemistry Seminar Series

February 13 @ 2:30 pm - 3:20 pm EST

Dr. James Lewis Seminar Title: “Hard sweeps, soft sweeps, and supergenes underlie post-glacial climate adaptation in a boreal moth species” Bio: Dr. James Lewis is an assistant professor in Genetics and Biochemistry at Clemson University. His research aims to understand the genetic mechanisms, evolutionary processes, and ecological pressures that underlie adaptation in natural populations. The Lewis lab primarily uses Lepidoptera as a model for studying Mendelian and complex trait adaptation with an emphasis on mimicry coloration and physiological responses to environmental stress. Dr. Lewis received his PhD from Cornell University in 2017, then held postdoc positions at Cornell University and the University of British Colombia before joining Clemson University in 2022.
