Dr. Rena Jones Seminar Title: “Environmental Exposures and Cancer Risk: Insights from Epidemiology” Bio: Rena Jones is a Senior Investigator in the Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics at the U.S. National Cancer Institute, where her intramural research program focuses on understanding how environmental exposures, especially air and water pollutants, contribute to cancer risk. She leads large-scale, multidisciplinary epidemiologic studies that use innovative methods to assess population exposures and strengthen biologic plausibility. Her expertise is recognized nationally and internationally, and her work has informed evaluations by regulatory and review agencies such as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the U.S. National Toxicology Program, and the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC). Dr. Jones is an Associate Editor of the American Journal of Epidemiology and she received the 2024 NCI Director’s Award for Population Science. She earned her MS and PhD degrees in epidemiology from the University at Albany, State University of New York.
