Living with roommates is fun, but it takes patience and open communication. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. Try your hardest to coexist peacefully and make the best of your situation. Here are some ways we can help.
You and your roommates must complete a Roommate Agreement to set expectations for your shared living space – cleanliness, social vs. study times, how you will communicate with one another, etc.
Conflicts can occur between roommates. If you are unable to resolve a conflict, talk to an RA or your community staff.
Room changes are allowed in the Fall and Spring semesters. A Residential Living staff member can explain the process to you in detail. Spaces range in price so please consider the difference in cost when asking to move to a higher or lower cost community. You may request a room change in the forms section of the Clemson Home Portal.
No room changes can occur at the beginning of a semester. The University Housing team must verify occupancy in all assigned spaces before starting room changes. This process is not completed until after the final date to register for classes.
Room changes will not be processed after the last date for Housing refunds. This may impact a student’s bill and ability to register for classes during the subsequent semester. The time period close to final assignments and exams is probably not best for a resident to establish a new roommate relationship.
Fraternity Sorority Housing
New members of fraternities and sororities may not move to assigned chapter housing until they have completed one semester in University Housing. Interested chapter members should contact the designated House Manager for their organization to request a move to chapter space.
Pre-Arrival Room Change
You may request a pre-arrival room change in the forms section of the Clemson Home Portal. Spaces range in price so please consider the difference in cost when asking to move to a higher or lower cost community.
