What is the purpose of the EDSA 3900 class?

The EDSA 3900 class is a 3-credit hour course that all Residential Staff are required to take. This course focuses on student development theory, leadership, and counseling skills for student leaders. The course is not training on how to be an Residential Staff, but it does integrate many of the theories and activities that are integral to the Residential Staff experience. As a result of completing the course, students will learn about multiple leadership theories, discuss ways to build and support unique residential communities, explore social identities and their impact on society, develop skills to communicate in groups and across differences, and identify issues impacting Clemson University and the field of higher education.
