How do I find a roommate?

In step one of the housing sign up process, you may search for potential roommates as well as create a roommate group once you have identified your preferred roommate. Do not worry if you do not know any potential roommates! During this phase, you will be able to search for potential roommates as well as send or accept a roommate group request.

Roommate Search Process

In the Roommate Groups section, you will be able to create or join a potential roommate. You will also be able to view pending requests that you may have sent or received. If you know your friend’s Clemson University username  you can start creating a group by clicking “Search for Roommates by Details.” As more members are added to the group you will be able to see all the group members on this page.

Roommate Search by Details

In this phase of the search process, you will be able to enter your friend’s Clemson University username. When you click “Search”, your friend’s information should appear. Click “Add Roommate” to send the request. They will be notified that you have requested them as a potential roommate.

Note: If a student does not populate in the search:

Make sure you are entering the correct username.

Check with your friend that they have started the housing sign-up process.

Your friend may already be in another group.

In addition to username, you can search by age or key word (description).

Roommate Search by Profiles

In this phase of the search process, you may use the questions in the lifestyle questionnaire and your preferred responses to look for potential roommates.

Results will populate based upon your responses to these same questions.

Join a Group

Accepting Requests

After sending a request to a potential roommate, they must accept the request in order to be part of the group. You can also cancel a request that you have sent at any time. During room selection, you can only assign roommates in your confirmed group.

Potential roommates that have requested to be in your group or that you have requested to be roommates with will appear under the Roommates Page.  Here you will be able to accept or decline a roommate request.

Accepted roommates will appear in the Group Members section.

Leave a Group

Departing

You can leave a group at any time, unless you are the group creator, and create or join another group by clicking “Leave Roommate Group” on the Roommates Page. The option to leave will appear once you are part of a group.

Roommate Group

Create and Confirm Your Roommate Group

The group leader, which is whoever establishes the group first, must create the group.

To create a group, you must complete the following steps:

Create Group Name

Create Group Password

Confirm Password

We recommend that you stay in contact with your potential group members and that requests to join groups are confirmed sooner rather than later.

Roommate Deadline

The deadline to create and confirm your roommate group is noon on May 15, which is also the same deadline for completing all of the sections in step one.

General Guide to Roommate Groups

You will receive a notification whenever there has been a change to your roommate group.

Roommate Group & Room Selection

Who selects housing for the group?

When the time comes for room selection, any member of the group (ideally the member with the earliest/first time slot) can assign other members of the group.
