This residential community is designed to support students pursuing degrees that lead to teacher certification by offering a network of peers and valuable resources. It fosters meaningful connections beyond the classroom, helping residents build relationships that enhance both their personal and professional growth as future educators. Clemson University’s College of Education strongly encourages all first-year Teaching Fellows to live in the Teaching Fellows Living-Learning Community (LLC). However, the LLC is also open to any student studying in a College of Education major or those studying Agricultural Education.
The Teaching Fellows Living-Learning Community (LLC) provides enhanced programming that goes beyond the traditional teacher preparation experience. Residents have access to unique opportunities designed to support their academic success, professional growth, and community engagement. These include:
Through these experiences, the Teaching Fellows LLC cultivates a supportive and enriching environment for aspiring educators.
Seminars will serve to expose students to trends and issues in public education, the qualities associated with effective leadership, instructional best practices and effective teaching, and education advocacy. Topics will include:
“When I was a freshman, I loved living in the LLC. It was a great way to connect and bond with the other Teaching Fellows. College life is very busy, and it can be difficult to make the time for non-required social commitments. With the LLC, it is so natural. Especially as a freshman when college can be very overwhelming, and it can be easy to become lost in everything, this LLC provided a great community.”
“I have made lots of friends through the LLC. This made my transition into college much easier, and it is wonderful to have so many friends who have the same passion for education.”
Size: 26 students
Location: Holmes Hall
Roommate Policy: Roommate should be another Teaching Fellows participant; if not possible, roommate should be in the College of Education or studying Agriculture Education.
Restrictions: LLC is open to all College of Education majors and any students studying Agriculture Education.
Application: none for LLC; Application process is required for Teaching Fellows
Fee: None
