Occasionally, residents will contact with me pertaining to other inquiries, including but not limited to CARE, Conduct Hearings, job opportunities with Clemson Home, or academic resources.

What's your background?

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Health Science Promotion and Education with a Minor in Pan-African Studies from Clemson University. After graduating, I spent a short time as a Behavioral Counselor for the Department of Mental Health before transferring agencies to the Department of Health and Environmental Control. I devoted over six wonderful years with DHEC as a Nutritionist and a Certified Lactation Counselor working with pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum women and infants and children under five years of age. Wanting a change of pace and scenery, I earned my Master of Education in Higher Education Administration from Columbia College (Columbia, South Carolina).

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

I am artsy and thoroughly enjoy visiting quaint little shops to paint pottery, do some woodwork, or make candles. Shopping, including window shopping, is probably my favorite pastime. I am all for a sale or an excellent bin win (if you know, you know!). Apart from that, I am an avid Sims fan! I own all the DLC for the Sims 4, and I always try to find time for the Sims. As a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., I appreciate the many opportunities to serve the community with my sorority. Above all else, I love spending time with my family or friends when I am not at work.

In my role I am tasked with continuing to develop the partnership between Clemson Home and the Honors College. I am also responsible for creating initiatives that support the development of the residential college model within the Honors Residential College. This includes the supervision of community staff and daily operations.

I enjoy having the opportunity to work with great colleagues and students. I also like having the space to be creative and innovative in my work to continue to build the culture of the Honors Residential College.

What's your background?

I was born in Jamaica then moved to Maryland with my family at age 13. I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Communication (Public Relations) at the University of Maryland, College Park (Go Terps!!). I then went on to Baylor University (Sic' Em Bears) where I completed my Master of Science in Higher Education and Student Affairs. Prior to coming to Clemson, I worked for two years at the University of Oklahoma as a Residential College Director.

I value people and the stories they tell. I believe that every encounter I have with someone is an interaction of our stories. In the work I do, empathy and creating space for people to share their stories is important. I earned my degree in supply chain management from the Michigan State University. After graduation, I moved to a ski resort in Colorado and started out as a lift operator. I worked my way up at the resort to helpdesk support role. When I moved to South Carolina, I began working in manufacturing as a production planner. I was hired at Clemson Home in March of 2020.

Cassey Lessane is a native of Raleigh, North Carolina. She has professionally worked in Student Affairs for 3+ years. Cassey is an Alumna of North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University and Louisburg College. During her time at Louisburg College, she was heavily involved in Student Activities/ Housing & Residence Life, being a Student Ambassador, Resident Assistant, member of Students Against Destructive Decisions (S.A.D.D), and the Executive Board Member/ Moderator for the Residence Life R.A. Drive-In. 

As a Residential Counselor, Cassey took her passion for Student Affairs to a summer Talent Identification Program (T.I.P) at Duke University. Cassey’s next venture was attending North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University, where she was active in Housing & Residence Life as a Resident Assistant and a student volunteer for NC A & T Alumni Programs. After graduating from both Alma Maters, Cassey returned to serve her community by becoming a Community Director.

What do you do at Clemson Home?

I am the Community Director for the Honors Residential College (Cribb & DesChamps Hall). It is Clemson’s first residential college and home to almost 400 students. It’s a unique opportunity to build a fully immersive experience with our partners in the Honors College for our amazing residents. I get to collaborate with our Graduate Community Director and our wonderful FIRs (Faculty-in-Residence) as part of our community leadership team that work with our 13 RCMs (Residential Community Mentors) to bring Clemson’s vision for a residential college to life.

Why would someone typically contact you?

You could contact me if you need connection to our plethora of on-campus resources, need advice in navigating potential roommate/suitemate conflicts, have an idea for an event we could host for our students, or anything else I may be able to assist with. I’m here to help!

What's your background?

I’m from the small town of Latta, South Carolina but I have always had a heart for the bigger adventures that awaited me after high school. I was a member of the Honors College at my undergraduate institution, Lander University, where I received my B.S. in Sociology. While at Lander, I became involved in several student organizations and served as a Resident Assistant and then as a Head Resident Assistant. After that, I studied at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington where I received my M.Ed. in Higher Education and worked as an Assistant Residence Coordinator. Prior to coming to Clemson, I served as a Community Coordinator at Coastal Carolina University. During my higher education journey, I’ve had the opportunity to serve as a Pre-College Program Proctor at Harvard University and participate in an international internship in Ireland at Maynooth University.

What do you like about working at Clemson Home?

I really enjoy the supportive relationships that I have developed with the department’s leadership team. I feel genuinely appreciated and know that the department supports my growth and development and wishes to see me succeed. It’s great to work in a place where you cannot only be comfortable sharing your thoughts and input, but to also know they are taken into consideration.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

I am a huge movie fan, so I like to get to the movie theater as often as I can. I love a good laugh so comedies are my favorite. I also have a love for all things thrilling… rollercoasters, ziplining, etc. When I’m shopping, I always come home with a new book or a new Funko Pop to add to my collection of almost 200. When I’m at home, you’ll either find me playing a game on the Switch/PS4, spending time with my husband Sam and our fur baby Lilo, or you’ll find Grey’s Anatomy, The Golden Girls, or RuPaul’s Drag Race on the television. I’ve also caught the “travel bug” and love adventuring to new places!

What do you do at Clemson Home?

I work alongside the two graduate assistants for Fraternity Sorority Housing to co-facilitate the development of the Fraternity & Sorority Housing Community's environment. In my work, this can be working with chapters to create academic environments outside of the classroom, to challenging the students we work with to hold their brothers and sisters accountable for any number of things that come along living in a community space.

What do you like about working at Clemson Home?

Because the folks at Clemson Home are my Ohana. They have truly shown me the meaning of, "Ohana means family, family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten." I moved 10 hours away from home and I would not know it with the support that I have been shown within Clemson Home.

What's your background?

My background is Misty Mood by Leonid Afremov, adapted to include the Tardis and the following quote from Doctor Who, “We're All Stories in the End. Just make it a good ONE."  The Doctor.

However, I am sure the more in the box answer to this question would go something like:
I am just a small town guy, who grew up in Pocahontas, Arkansas.
Marching to my own beat, I studied at the University of Central Arkansas (Go Bears!) in instrumental music education; however, I seemed to have gotten off beat when I started working as a student in Residence Life. From there I followed my passion for working with students to the University of South Alabama (Go Jags!). Now, Moon Pies and Mardi Gras aside, to complete my M.Ed. in Educational Leadership as the Community Director for Fraternity & Sorority Housing at the University of South Alabama.

From there I was able to find my Clemson Home as the Coordinator for Fraternity Sorority Housing, and continue following my passion for working with students.

What are the values that drive you?

I value support and relationships. While these seem to go hand in hand you can have both without the other, however, when they work in harmony they truly enhance the workplace. Working with people and interacting for more than a transactional reason.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

When I am not working, I find my harmony in life by either fostering an appreciation for (torturing my partner) Disney+, or painstakingly ensuring we keep up with any TV/Movie universes we have set out to conquer. Additionally, I like to find myself on the other side of an empty plate, either going to or from somewhere new; or one of us makes something at home, as we both like to cook! Somewhere in there I also find time to work on getting my way through different literature. I cannot say whether I am shaken or stirred, but I am building my knowledge on these things. Nonetheless, I like to travel, and one of my favorite places to go is to see my godchild.
