Residential Life Graduate Assistantships

Residential Life offers seven different types of Graduate Assistantships at Clemson University. For the 2013-2014 academic year, we have openings for six of these seven Graduate Assistantships. Residential Life Graduate Assistantships are positions with preference given to students who enroll in the Master of Education Student Affairs program.

Resident Assistants

Resident Assistants (RA) are integral to the residential experience. RAs are charged with building community and serving as mentors and role models for residents while living and working with a group of 30 to 60 students in a residential community. RAs also serve an important role in the overall management of a residential community. Due to the essential nature of the RA role, RAs are held to a high standard and are expected to consistently uphold the duties of their position. The In order to best serve our residents, RAs must:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to leadership, social justice, and sustainability
  • Be able to facilitate community development within a residential community environment
  • Serve as a mentor and role model for residents
  • And assist with the management of a residential community
