We hope you are as excited as we are for move-in! To make sure you are prepared to move into your Clemson Home, whether for the first time or the fourth, make sure you read through and complete all of the items below, as this year will differ from prior move-ins. If any operational plans change, we will let you know. We can’t wait to welcome you to your new home and we’ll CU soon!
Make a Move-In Appointment
You will need to sign up for a new move-in appointment.
Each building will be assigned a start time to select move-in appointments in the Housing Portal. This will allow us to manage “traffic” in the portal and will provide an equitable opportunity for all residents of a specific building to choose an appointment time that is preferred for them. You do not have to log in during the three-hour window associated with your building; a student can log in later if needed, any time after that particular building has opened for appointment selection. Appointments will close September 7th at 11:59 PM ET.
Move-in appointment sign-up will be available on August 27-28, 2020 based on the following schedule:
Thursday, August 27
6 am (ET) Douthit E, F, G
9 am (ET) Byrnes, Lever
12 pm (ET) Manning, Mauldin, Barnett, Smith
3 pm (ET) Cribb, DesChamps, Gressette, Mickel
6 pm (ET) Benet, Cope, Geer, Sanders, Young
Friday, August 28
6 am (ET) Holmes, McCabe, Quad
9 am (ET) Calhoun Courts, Thornhill
12 pm (ET) Lightsey Bridge I & II
3 pm (ET) Douthit A, B, C, D
Label Your Boxes
We highly recommend that you label every bag, box and bin, so your items don’t get lost during move-in. To make this easier for you, we’ve created a label template (shown below). Download this PDF document, type in your information, and print onto Avery (r) Template 5164/8164; alternatively, you can use regular printer paper and tape it to all of your items.
Ship Boxes Ahead If Needed
If you need to ship items in advance to your P.O. Box, send them to:
Student’s First and Last Name
2275 University Station
DH or SM (Box Number)
Clemson, SC 29632
DH is used in front of the box number for Douthit Hills residents and SM is used for everyone else. Information about your P.O. Box assignment will be sent to your Clemson University email account around the first week of September. Please do not ship anything until you receive your P.O. Box assignment.
Student Mail Services will begin accepting packages prior to move-in weekend for you to retrieve your items. Be mindful of your estimated delivery date and your move-in date, as packages should be picked up promptly upon receiving your notification email. Mail Services will be open from 8am-5pm both Saturday and Sunday the weekend of move-in. Also consider how you will transport belongings back to your residence after picking them up. More details about the package pick-up process can be found here.
For more information about mail services, please click here to go to their website.
All residents, including first-year, continuing, and bridge students will need to schedule a move-in appointment to claim a specific time during the dates listed below. We will only allow students to move-in according to their appointment date/time. We will not be able to make an exception if someone shows up during a time that is not their appointment. You must choose a time that is still available, as we cannot add additional ones.
First-Year Student Move-In will occur on September 11-14, 2020.
Bridge to Clemson Move-in will occur on September 12-13, 2020.
Continuing Student Move-In will occur on September 17-18, 2020.
Clemson Home would love to have all students be able to arrive as soon as possible and acknowledges that many students will want the 1st set of dates. We continue to plan for a socially-distant model, allowing portions of buildings to arrive each day – as well as proportioning the use of campus staff and safety officer resources across 6 days of move-in. Like many of the challenges of our current COVID-19 reality, we will count on your patience and cooperation in order to implement a successful plan.
Check the Move-In Driving Directions
Check the driving directions
to find out how to get to your remote check-in location and then follow the directions to get to your building from there. Be sure to check the back of the Unloading pass to find out where you can park your vehicle after unloading.
Get Your Unloading Pass and Parking Permit
Clemson Home and CUPD will allow you to park close to your community while unloading. To prevent delays, you will need to complete and print the unloading pass prior to arriving on-campus.
It is important that you follow the guidelines listed below:
- Each vehicle must have a completed unloading pass displayed so our staff and CUPD Officers can view the contact information.
- As soon as the vehicle is unloaded, then move the vehicle to a designated parking location. On the back of the unloading pass is a map along with information about designated parking lots for move-in weekend.
- If you are a resident who will have a car on-campus throughout the academic year, you will need to purchase a parking permit from Parking and Transportation Services prior to move-in.
Families and Assistance
Residents are strongly encouraged to include only one, or two, individuals to assist with move-in during their appointed move-in time. Limiting the total number of individuals in a building who are touching shared surfaces and interacting with others is necessary to further reduce health risks to our campus community. There will not be community volunteers to assist you in moving your belongings, so be sure to pack light and only bring what you can easily transport.
We thank you for limiting the number of individuals in housing spaces and know that this means you may not be able to share the in-person experience of your arrival with as many family members, friends, and other persons of support that you might like. We encourage you to post photos, videos, and messages on social media with #ClemsonMoveIn. You can also post your photos from move-in in the Clemson Home Guidebook app to share with everyone! Make sure you and your family are following Clemson Home on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to stay connected and get the most up-to-date information about your new home!
Where to Get Your Key and ID
Check-in this year will largely be at remote locations. You will need to follow the driving directions to the designated parking lot for your community to receive your key and other move-in items. Once you have received your key you may follow the second section of the directions to your community to begin unloading.
- All residents** (First-Year, Continuing, or Bridge) arriving between the 11th -14th will check-in and pick up their keys at their designated remote check-in location.
- **ClemsonLIFE should plan to go straight to Douthit B to check-in
- Residents arriving between the 15th-16th will need to go to their community desk to check-in

Are you a first-year student living in University Housing? You should have selected one of the Unlimited meal plans (Unlimited 300, Unlimited 200 or Unlimited 100) for your first two semesters. Your meal plan will be uploaded to your student bill mid to late-July. If you wish to make any changes after your student bill is published in iROAR, you should do so through iROAR optional fees prior to making any payment toward your bill.
