Our world is made up of inequitable systems. The IGNITE community will provide space for students with diverse social identities to explore the challenges in shaping inclusive communities. Through dialogue, self-exploration, connections to campus events, and action-planning, students will build knowledge, awareness, and skills to guide positive social change as we help push our university towards its goals of inclusive excellence.

What to Expect

By participating in this LLC students will be able to:


  • Build self – awareness of identities
  • Explore values systems and identify own values
  • Explore how identities have been historically represented in society


  • Understand impact of identities individuals hold
  • Understand how differences make a difference in historical impacts at Clemson
  • Understand how power, privilege, and oppression influences identity


  • Understand resources available to students and be able to refer them
  • Build capacity for understanding community & civic engagement
  • Build capacity for engaging productively in dialogue


  • Engage in a community, build rapport
  • Assess needs of community and available resources, translate historical aspects of community to current context
  • Intervene with a program or action
  • Evaluate impact on community and measure outcomes
