SUMMARY:School Gardening for SC Educators (Asynchronous Online Course)
DESCRIPTION:School Gardening for SC Educators is a five-week online program offered by Clemson Cooperative Extension’s Horticulture and 4-H Youth Development agents. The goal of this course is to help educators\, parents\, administrators\, and other caring adults learn to garden successfully with students. Participants will learn the basic horticulture skills necessary to start and maintain their school garden. Licensed educators who successfully complete the course will receive twenty (20) renewal credits from the South Carolina Department of Education.  In addition to the online course\, your registration includes the following:  -The Seasonal Planting Guide for South Carolina School and Community Gardens\,  -The Garden STEM Curriculum for Your Garden Classroom (K-8)\,  and virtual workshop supplies\, including grade-level specific lessons and materials.  -After registering for the course\, please log in and complete the Participant Information Form so that your materials can be sent to you via mail.  The course will begin on February 2\, 2026\, and end on March 9\, 2026.

Prior to joining Fortitude\, Kyle worked at Unum Group in Chattanooga. Starting out in their actuarial development program with rotations in voluntary benefits pricing\, ERM\, ALM\, and valuation. Kyle is a fellow graduate of Clemson University (class of 2012)\, with a B.S. degree in Mathematical Sciences\, an Emphasis in Actuarial Science and Financial Math\, and a minor in Financial Management. Kyle was one of the founding members of the Clemson Society of Future Actuaries. \n \nChristine Hofbeck\, FSA\, MAAA\nChristine is the Vice President\, Actuarial Development at Fortitude Re. A member of the Actuarial Senior Leadership Team\, she leads the actuarial exams program\, rotations\, college recruiting\, actuarial intern program\, and continuing education. Previously she held leadership roles at Prudential\, AIG and PWC\, and served on the SOA Board of Directors. She holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and MIT. DESCRIPTION:School Gardening for SC Educators is a five-week online program offered by Clemson Cooperative Extension’s Horticulture and 4-H Youth Development agents. The goal of this course is to help educators\, parents\, administrators\, and other caring adults learn to garden successfully with students. Participants will learn the basic horticulture skills necessary to start and maintain their school garden. Licensed educators who successfully complete the course will receive twenty (20) renewal credits from the South Carolina Department of Education.  In addition to the online course\, your registration includes the following:  -The Seasonal Planting Guide for South Carolina School and Community Gardens\,  -The Garden STEM Curriculum for Your Garden Classroom (K-8)\,  and virtual workshop supplies\, including grade-level specific lessons and materials.  -After registering for the course\, please log in and complete the Participant Information Form so that your materials can be sent to you via mail.
