SUMMARY:2nd Annual Holiday Honey Sale
DESCRIPTION:The annual Holiday Honey Sale is sponsored and managed by the Clemson Apiculture and Pollinator Program (CAPP)\, the University’s beekeeping education and research program under the direction of Benjamin Powell\, the University’s apiculture specialist. CAPP conducts honey bee research and beekeeper trainings for students\, University personnel\, and the general public statewide. CAPP manages working bee yards to support the University’s honey bee research and education activities. These working bee yards generate honey\, and students along with aspiring beekeepers gain hands-on experience caring for the colonies along with harvesting\, processing and marketing the honey. All of the honey sold at the Holiday Honey Sale is generated in the University’s bee yards\, processed in University facilities with student assistance\, and meets all state food safety guidelines. Honey is packaged and sold in three sizes: 12 oz squeezable honey bears are $8.00 each\, 24 oz pint jars are $12 each\, 48 oz quart jars are $20 each. All proceeds go to support the Clemson Apiculture and Pollinator Program’s research and education activities and to promote student involvement in beekeeping and pollinator conservation at Clemson University.
