The morning begins at 9 AM with a headstone restoration workshop at Cemetery Hill (registration required)\, followed by a reflective “Moments of Memory Walk” from 1–3 PM. At 3 PM\, the program moves to the Memorial Stadium President’s Box for a “Living Memory” session on genealogy and preservation\, concluding with Ms. Mabel Clark’s 5 PM lecture\, “Roots of Resilience”.

Join us for a fun and educational food preservation class focused on fermentation and crafting your own homemade sauerkraut!  Date: Thursday March 5\, 2026  Location: Florence Center City Market Kitchen: 200 Sanborn St  ⏰ Time: 5:30pm-7:30pm  In this interactive workshop\, participants will:Learn the science behind fermentation and why it has been used safely for centuries  Explore the food safety principles that make fermentation both safe and nutritious  Sample a variety of fermented foods  Make your own batch of fresh sauerkraut to take home    Each participant will leave with hands-on experience and a complete fermentation kit\, including:1 fermentation jar  Fermentation weight  Airlock lid  Packet of resources for further reference    Whether you’re new to food preservation or looking to expand your skills\, this class will provide practical knowledge\, delicious samples\, and the confidence to ferment at home.  Space is limited — be sure to register early!  Participants will be engaged in hands-on activities using current USDA-recommended techniques for preserving foods for home use. Persons with or without experience are encouraged to attend the workshop.  Participants will receive a packet of resources for further reference\, the product made during class\, and a fun experience.  Participants are asked to wear closed-toed shoes\, tie back long hair\, and wear a hat if possible. Also\, bring a snack and a water bottle. Join us for a fun and educational food preservation class focused on fermentation and crafting your own homemade sauerkraut!  Date: Tuesday March 17\, 2026  Location: Horry County Clemson Extension Office: 1949 Industrial Park Rd\, Conway SC  ⏰ Time: 10am-12pm  In this interactive workshop\, participants will:Learn the science behind fermentation and why it has been used safely for centuries  Explore the food safety principles that make fermentation both safe and nutritious  Sample a variety of fermented foods  Make your own batch of fresh sauerkraut to take home    Each participant will leave with hands-on experience and a complete fermentation kit\, including:1 fermentation jar  Fermentation weight  Airlock lid  Packet of resources for further reference    Whether you’re new to food preservation or looking to expand your skills\, this class will provide practical knowledge\, delicious samples\, and the confidence to ferment at home. SUMMARY:Anderson ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification Training + Exam
DESCRIPTION:A one-day review course using ServSafe® materials from the National Restaurant Association (NRA).  Taught by Clemson University Food Safety and Nutrition Experts who are certified ServSafe® Instructors with the NRA.  The course concludes with the ServSafe® Certification Exam.  Successful completion of the course and certification exam meets DHEC requirements for “Certified Food Protection Manager” under federal guidelines outlined in 2-102.12(B) of the FDA Food Code.  ServSafe® Manager Certification from the National Restaurant Association will be e-mailed to participants upon successful completion of the course and certification exam. The certification is valid for five years.  The cost of the course covers the exam and exam answer sheet. The book is not included in the price of the training + exam.  Course book: ServSafe® Manager Book 9th Edition should be purchased before coming to the course: ServSafe® Product Details (https://www.servsafe.com/access/SS/Catalog/ProductDetail/ES9). Books are also available at the Greenwood County Extension Office.  Participants should bring the course book with them on the day of training.  Course topics include: Challenges to Food Safety\, Microbiology\, Contamination\, Allergens\, Food Safety Systems\, The Flow of Food\, Maintaining Sanitary Facilities and Equipment\, Pest Management and Employee Training.
